I was reading an article on birthday return gifts. Of course, I thought this meant you receive birthday gifts that didn't fit; you didn't like or just didn't need and you would return them. This is NOT what "birthday return gifts" mean in this day and age at all.....
I was surprised when my daughter started having birthday parties for her son and she had to go to the expense of buying what I call "goody bags" for each kid attending the party to take home with them as a "return gift from the birthday kid". When in the world did this get started?
Not only do parents have all of the expense of throwing big elaborate theme birthday parties, now they have to buy a return gift for every kid who shows up at the party. How unnecessary and how inappropriate is that!!! We try to teach kids about giving to others and then along comes a birthday party where the parents are saying "you shouldn't give unless you receive something back in return". Is that what is being said? Maybe I'm missing something here. I also read about teenagers birthday party where the teens thought their return gift should cost as much as the gift given to them.
Can someone out there in cyberspace educate me on what this is all about?
Good post! for me giving gift is like a fulfillment in life especially when you saw the happiness for the one you given. Thanks for this entry.

That was so sad. I think it is not proper not to give gifts because you haven't received one. Or you will give the same amount as what you have received. Giving gifts is a way to show that you value the person. We should not expect something in return when we give. It is always better to give than to receive.
